This sturdy and dependable unit allows you to connect the output of two electronic musical instruments or other audio source to the balanced input on a mixer. Alternatively, the ADP21 allows connection of an audio source to an instrument amplifiers while simultaneously patching them to channels on a mixer. It even gives you the ability to connect the speaker output of one or two instrument amplifiers directly to the input of a mixer – especially desirable in the case of a tube guitar amps (speakers must also be connected, see below).

Applications:

Electric Guitar/Bass Pick-Up Signals - The high impedance signal from a guitar or bass pickup is translated by the ADP21 into a low impedance balanced signal required by mixing consoles. »»Suggested attenuation setting: 0dB««

Keyboards/Line Level Signals - The ADP21 automatically balances and matches the line level outputs of modern electronic keyboards. If you are using a multiple keyboard setup, and your keyboards are plugged into two instrument amplifiers, the ADP21 can be used to replace two individual direct boxes. Simply connect the line outputs of the instrument amplifiers to the ADP21 with unbalanced patch cables, then use two balanced cables to go to two channels on the mixer. »»Suggested attenuation setting: -20dB (line level) or -40dB (amp level) ««

DJ Console Output Signals - The ADP21 converts this signal to a balanced line level before it reaches the console, while providing a convenient method of connector transition with long cable run capability. Use both channels for a stereo DJ mixer. »»Suggested attenuation setting: 0dB or -20dB««

Speaker Level Signals - The ADP21's capability of accepting speaker level input from an amplifier's output allows post-amplifier, post EQ/effects signals to be fed directly to the console. This is particularly desirable where a tube guitar amp is concerned. »»Suggested attenuation setting: -40dB««

CAUTION! If you are connecting a "tube" amplifier's speaker output this way, BE SURE A SPEAKER LOAD IS ALSO CONNECTED. Tube amps must see a load impedance that falls within their design parameters. Because it has a very high input impedance, connecting the ADP21 in parallel with a speaker load will not alter the overall speaker load impedance encountered by the amplifier.
